If some could help me out with this assignment I got I would greatly
appreciate it :) . I am sure it is extremely easy, but I don't know
how to use Excel at all, heh.

1. Production Errors

Established in 2002, t-shirts.com has rapidly become the place to find,
order, and save on T-shirts. One huge selling factor is that they
manufacture their own T-shirts. However, the quality manager for the
production plant, Kasey Harnish, has noticed an unacceptable number of
defective T-shirts being produced. You have been hired to assist Kasy
in understanding where the problems are concentrated. He suggests
using a PivotTable to perform an analysis and has provide you with a
data file.

A couple of hints….you need to solve for errors on a per machine basis,
per employee basis and on a per employee basis with a total batch size
and a total number of defect (probably should use PivotTables). Print
out the results of each of the PivotTables and a short explanation of
what you solved for and what the numbers mean – all on the same page.A

I hope this makes sense to someone :)!

Not sure what version of Excel you are using. I am assuming 2002/XP or 2003

-Open Excel
-Along top of screen will be a Menu of choices ("File, Edit, Insert"...)
-Select Help>Microsoft Excel Help
-Type in "Pivot Table"
-Read up on the subject.

Pivot tables are one of those things that you have to get your hands dirty
and *do*. Any other approach is problematic.

But you are right, this is very simple. Maybe 5-10 minutes once you learn
how. Don't know how long it will take you to learn how, though.

heh

HTH,

Ahh I figured how to use the pivot table wizard and made one, but
don't understand what the questino is asking me to put where in th
table, and I am suppose to make like 3 of them? Help :)

yeah

if you were doing this in a database; it would be a lot easier to have
multiple views of the same data

in the excel world; you basically have multiple copies of things; and
it's a lot harder to manage
