Can I use Excell as an interface for gathering data to populate an access
database?
 
Depends on what you're trying to do, but yes, Excel can be used as a
front-end for Jet databases (i.e. MDB files)
 
Yes, but is it necessary to go through the extra step?
Post back with a description of where the data comes from and what you want
to do with it. Perhaps we can recommend a method. There are more than one
way to move data from Excel to Access.
