Excel AddIns VBA Locking v Unviewable

I have two Excel AddIns obtained from different sources
When I try to look at the VBA code one asks for a password, whereas the other simply states that the project is unviewable
Can anybody explain
- what is the difference between these
- how is a project made unviewable (I already know how to protect a project with a password)
Thanks in advance

Hi KGB,

If you are running Excel 97 and the add-in was password protected in
Excel 2000 or later, Excel 97 will not be able to unprotect the project.
This is because the protection algorithm was updated in Excel 2000.
Unlikely, but also a possibility, if the add-in was created in Excel 95 you
will not be able to view the code in any later version of Excel.

Another way to get that message is to share the workbook.

Do you see [Shared] in the title bar?

Hi everyone,

I would like to find out if there is a way for me to view an unviewabl
project? Apparently, the author of the project
has already left the company and did not provide us any guidelines o
how to make his locked project editable. I was asked by my superiors t
make some changes in his program, but
I am currently faced with this dilemma. I would greatly appreciate an
assistance on how I could crack or make his vba project editable.

I am using excel 95.

Thanks in advance.
