Excel 97 65K record barrier in Excel 2007

I run reports out of IBI Focus and save them in an xls (Excel 97)
format. When I save the data out of Focus, it can save more than 65K
records in the XLS format, but since Excel 97 only has the capability
of 65K records, only the first 65K records would be read. The company
recently installed Excel 2007 which now will allow over 1 Meg of
records. When I try to bring the XLS file into Excel 2007 in the 97
xls format, it still only reads 65K records. How can I read the 97
Excel Format in Excel 2007 and bring more than 65K records across?

Thanks

In Excel2007, save as "normal" Excel file, not a backwards compatible one.

You may have to close and re-open Excel to get the full 1M rows

I'm sorry, I don't understand what you are saying. When I open the
XLS file in Excel 2007 I only get 65,000 rows. Are you saying that
once I open the file and get only 65,000 rows to save it in the 2007
format without backward capability? Even though it only shows the
65,000 rows, it will still save all of the data?

Thanks

If you think Excel97 kept more than 65000 rows but only showed 65000, I have to disappoint you. There are no more than 65000
records in that Excel file.

Surely the point is that IBI Focus needs to be told to save the data in a
different file format that can hold over 65k records? I've no idea what IBI
Focus can do, and this is not the right NG to ask questions about IBI Focus.
Excel can read all manner of inputs, including CSV, which may well do the
trick.
