Excel 97-2003 Worksheet partially corupted in Excel 2007 but can't

My file is type Excel 97-2003 (.xls). When I open it in Excel 2007, the newer
worksheets created in Excel 2003 are okay, but the older sheets created long
ago (Excel 97?) are unreadable. The rows are mashed together and nothing is
shown in the cells. Even the row numbers on the left are blurred. Excel 2007
says it's open in Compatibility Mode. When I try to conver it or prepare it,
Excel doesn't think anything is wrong and doesn't change the appearance. The
data is displayed in the Formula Bar if I highlight a cell. How do I get the
worksheet to apprear normally? TIA.

It sounds as if you row heights have all been reduced. I haven't seen this
and have no idea why it's occurring. Have you tried increasing the row
heights? To do that to the entire sheet, by pressing Ctrl-a twice, then
click Format, Row Height from the Cells group near the right end of the Home
tab. Enter a height like 12 or 15.

Made some progress. I set the row height as you suggested. Initially, the
worksheet then when blank, but when I reduced the size to 70%, the data
appeared. If I restore the size back above 70%, the data in the cells
disappears again. I was able to save the data as a .csv file, so maybe I can
import the data into a new 2007 format and start over in a clean file. Thank
you for your response.

I think your may try a popular Excel file recovery tool called
Advanced Excel Repair to repair your Excel file. It is a powerful tool
to repair corrupt or damaged Excel files.

Detailed information about Advanced Excel Repair can be found at
