Excel 3.0 crashes with new printer

Just bought an Epson C84 printer and Excel crashes when I
assign this printer. It is fine with the other printers

After 10 years of using Excel I don't really need a
bloated set of features that add nothing to what I do, and
don't see why I need to upgrade.

Any suggestions as to why Epson crashes. What was special
with Excel 3.0 which later versions didn't have?

The printer works with other programs.

New print drivers simply might not work well with significantly older
programs. You could mess with using an older Epson printer driver for an
older (yet similar) model. This could cause undesireable results with other
windows programs.
