I just upgraded from Office 2007 to Office 2010 and am getting an error message when trying to open .xls files. The strange thing is that some files will open, others won't. When they don't, I get a "File Is Corrupt" message but I know the file is not corrupt.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Hi Norton, welcome to the forums :)

Can you try this please, I found this mentioned elsewhere and it's worked for a couple of other people:

Open Excel and go to File - Options - Trust Center - Trust Center Settings

Than go to File Block Settings tab and make sure you uncheck Excel 97-2003 and Excel 2007 and later Workbooks and Templates.

Part of the problem is that it will open xls files that were created with Office 2003 and 2007 on this laptop, but will not open 2003 files created on another computer - it says they're corrupt. Very strange...
