Excel 2007 HUGELY slow on Autosave, can anything be done about it?

Excel 2007, when it does Autosave, is pushing CPU for my PC to 100%, and
taking 60 seconds or more. Progress meter goes about half way, then stops
for 30-45 seconds. However, the open files take about 5 seconds or less to
save (they are not ultra-huge or anything). This behavior is extremely
irritating. Really interrupts work flow if you're a heavy Excel user, as i
have to totally stop using Excel. This was never an issue for me before i
upgraded to Excel 2007. Have others seen this? Can anything be done about
it? (aside from Autosave less frequently, which is not necessarily
desirable, tho maybe i will do it, as this is so irritating).

Thanks,
tom

We're having the same problem. It only seems to be happening on excel xp/03
files stored on remote computers. Once we convert them to 2007 versions, they
seem to be working fine.
