Excel 2007 in Vista Ultimate SP1

If I open Excel, open a spreadsheet, highlight several cells to change the
font color - Excel stops working. This happens if I use the drop down menu
(triangle on right of button) of the "font color button" in the ribbon or on
the Quick Access toolbar.

If I change the font in a cell using either color button, not the drop down
menu, all is well.

I had this issue when I first installed Office 2007 Pro, then it went away,
now it is back. I have no idea what transpired over time to end/start the
situation.

This is the message data I get, I have no idea what to do with any of this
info
TIA,
BChat

Shane,

Yes, I have Office SP1 - my bad for not including that in OP. I install all
the latest updates, have done a "repair" re-install from CD and run the
Office Diagnose feature from within Excel. At some point there was an entry
in my "Programs and Features" list for something involving C++ something or
other (I can't recall what it was exactly), which I deleted because I can be
real stupid at times.
I am not sure if this was related to the situation or not.

Thanks for the reply

message Hi,

You say you are running Vista SP1, are you running SP1 for Office (Excel)?

FWIW:

I found the problem is related to the HP printer I use. The "faulty" .dll is
an HP file. I have no idea how/why this works, but uninstalling/reinstalling
the printer solved the problem. It seems this can affect any of the Office
programs.
