Excel 2007 Filter Problem

Excel 2007 Basic

when performing filters on a spreadsheet the filter drop down is blank.
when the same spreadsheet on Excel 2007 Professional is filtered the data
works as expected.

We have tried to update the service packs but can't figure this one out.

any help would be great

fixed by applying service pack 2. not sure why it worked on one machine but
not another but hey
