Excel 2007 files opens blank- need to click on Office button to vi

When any .xlsx file is launced{dbl-clicked} (from the desktop or from Windows
explorer) Excel opens up as a blank application (toolbars only). If you then
click on the Office buttton by itself the files open. I do not have to click
on Office button>open>and select the file name.

I have tried this as a potential solution...
In Microsoft Office Excel 2007, click the Microsoft Office Button, and then
click Excel Options. Click Advanced, and then click to clear the Ignore
other applications check box in the General area. Click OK.

Now the files won't open at all. Has anyone seen this? Thanks much!

Try the usual fix for this.

Tools>Options>General Uncheck "Ignore Other Applications etc."

In 2007 that would be Button>Excel Options>Advanced>General

You said you tried that already so on to next step.

Close Excel first and On the Windows Taskbar

1) Start>Run "excel.exe /unregserver"(no quotes)>OK.
2) Start>Run "excel.exe /regserver"(no quotes)>OK.

See the space between exe and /regserver

You might have to designate a full path to excel.exe.

In that case Start>Run "C:\yourpath\excel.exe" /regserver(quotes
required)>OK.

I have the exact symptoms as the OP.
Tried the solution in the reply but same symptoms still.

Any other ideas?
I can't believe MS hasn't fixed this in SP2.

Thanks,Joe
