Excel-2007 doesn't sort strings as described in documentation

Sort order described in docs (0 1 2 ...9 (blank) ! " # $ % & etc.) works
only
when single chars are sorted (e.g. 1 2 $ % & Y - it's really OK!) BUT
doesn't work properly while sorting 4-char strings, where the first is one of
the mentioned, e.g. with
"abc" added: $abc %abc &abc 1abc 2abc Yabc - it's not OK!

Is is an Excel application internal error or it's my fault? Who knows?

(This topic came from "Suggestion for Microsoft", and must be removed there
as it was inserted by fault)

You are right. It does not follow what is described in the Help file. I never
noticed this before for the simple reason I never read this particular topic
:)

Thanks for pointing this out. I would love someone to explain this to us.

The main thing is that not numbers BUT special chars (if in long string)
don't meet the description! As if this sorting is in accordance with usual
DOS code table whose priority is: at first spec. chars are processed, at
second - numbers, and then - letters. Excel declared its own sort order which
changed priority for spec. chars and numbers BUT doesn't support its order
really for non-single char strings. As a programmer I suspect an internal
Excel error and therefore wait a confirmation answer from MS staff to warn
my students against this error.
