Every time I startup Excel, I get the following error message:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

Runtime Error!
Program C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office...

R6025
-pure virtual function call

Is this an install without other versions and after removing any previous
versions. If so I would suspect another program on your machine is
conflicting. If you just have a previous version of Excel (2003, XP, 2000,
etc), then try unchecking all add-ins from Tools>Add-Ins in these previous
versions

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately, that didn't resolve the problem. I
have Office 2003 installed and all the Add-Ins are unchecked.

FYI, I have been having problems loading Excel 2003 for a while. Nearly
every time I load it, the program locks up. If I try to restart Excel, I can
launch it in safe mode where it runs fine. I tried reinstalling Excel but it
did not resolve the problem. That's why I installed the beta.

do you have adobe acrobat loaded...that's often a culprit. If that doesn't
work, uninstall both and make sure you clear any .xls, .xlb, and .xlt
files...make sure you search for hidden files as some may be

I am having the exact same issue. Now, if i open Excel by itself, its fine.
BUT if i try to open a file to lauch it OR if i open a file in the program,
it crashes with the exact same error message which i posted again down below.
Also, if i try to do something in Excel, it crashes. I did not have any
issues with excel before hand though unlike Rick, mine was running fine (for
the most part).
I would attach a photo of the error if it would help if i could.

"Microsoft Visual C++ Runtine Library"
"Runtime Error!"
"Program: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\EXCEL.EXE"
"R6025"
"- pure virtual function call"

woo hoo.
I did some research in the Knowledge base looking at this error occuring
across different application of older versions. It occured with Powerpoint
2000 dealing with Sharepoint, and so on.
So i investigated the registry on this one. Nick was suggesting the Adobe
PDF was the issue but it wasn't, at least not for me. I tried changing the
value and error still occured. So i changed a different value, in a different
Excel Addin and now its work.
This is what i did
Start > Run : regedit
\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Excel\Addins\RCMSOExt.Connect
There, i opened "LoadBehavior" and changed the value from 3 to "1". I click
on Ok, reran Excel and now its working fine

Ok, this is the kicker, that scripts applies directly to me. Its for an addin
i have running, the RingCentral Fax Client. SO what this tells us is that its
an addin that you have running, so you need to go into your registry going in
as deep as you can from my previous instructions and start to change the
value on the different addins until you find the one giving the issues. I
will say thing, i have 3 listings in my Excel/Addins listing and the first
one was the RCMXOExt.Connect which is what i originally told you to change
the value on. I have 2 other listings on mine though but i did not have to
change them. They were BtOfficeAddin.BtOfficeIntegratration.1 and
PDFMaker.OfficeAddin. So if you have these are the listings in yours, you can
let them be, but if you have a different listing, then change the value of
that and it should correct the problem.
If not, we can discuss it and see if we can correct the issue. In short
though, our older addins are that compatible with the newer Office2007.
