Excel 2003 - sort by more than 3 criteria?

Is there a way to sort by more than 3 criteria in Excel 2003. I remember in
older editions there was a way.

First of all sort by the lower-criteria columns, then sort by the
higher columns.

Another way is to concatenate your columns into one and to sort by
that (though it gets a bit messy if you want a mixture of ascending
and descending sorts).
