Excel 2003 Break Links

M

Mr. Clean

After I copy data from one workbook to another in the same instance of Excel
2003, I find a link that I can't delete. I need to use Copy Special /
Formulas. Both workbooks have no links to start with. Both are unprotected.
This worked fine on previous versions of these workbooks.

Any ideas?

Hi,

To break the links choose Edit, Links, Break Links.

You probably have a range name that refers to another file, for example when
you copy a sheet from one workbook to another. You could also look under
Insert, Name, Define. And select each name one at a time and look for links
in the Refers to box. You can also have links in Chart.

You can also get a free download to find links here:

Thank you Shane. It was a range name! Thought I had checked them all, but
one sneaked by.

Hi Shane: After spending an hour and a half fighting with a link that it
would not break, I came in and read you posting. I did the Insert Name
Define and sure enough there it was . I was able to delete it and all is
well!!! Thank you so much
