Excel 2002 and Visual Basic error message unexpected

when running vba code to automate setting up of a Data
Table, running the table and then copying values, I get
the following error message
Microsoft Visual Basic

Run-time error "-2147417848 (80010108)":

Automation error
The object invoked has disconnected from its client

When I run the spreadsheet on a machine with Excel 2000 it
works ok, but a machine with Excel 2002 returns the above
error.

Another spreadsheet with the same code works ok on both
machines.

does this indicate a need to reinstall the Excel 2002 or
some other fault?
any help would be appreciated
