Excel 2000

I have a problem opening and closing excel files. I keep
getting error message both on opening and closing files in
excel.
"Compile error in hidden Module: Initialization" (When
opening any excel file)
"Compile error in hidden Module: Initialization"
(When closing excel file)
Can you kindly assist with this.
