Exceeding File Size During Import

I am currently importing large amoutns of data from txt files into Access
2007. These files are being generated from an application, but unfortunatley
the downloads from that application include page breaks and column headings
on every page. Because of that, while I am importing the data into Access, I
get very close to the 2GB maximum. After I am done, I can run the compact and
repair and the file size drops to about 700mb, but is there a way to prevent
the file from exceeding 2GB during the import macro.

Are you asking if it is possible to tell Access to import something larger
than 2 GB when it has a 2GB limit? Not that I'm aware of...

On the other hand, if you are approaching/exceeding the 2 GB limit in
Access, why not consider a data store that can hold more? I believe you can
download a free-to-own, free-to-use copy of SQL Server (?Express).

Jeff,

It's the later. The problem with SQL Server is that I cannot use it at the
company I work for. I was hoiping to find a solution within Access. The only
thing I've been able to come up with is to import some of the files, then
stop and run a compact and compare and then run the rest of the files.

If I were limted to Access and had to import something like that, I'd use
that "pieces" approach too.
