Everything is slow and jerky

I have the latest GeForce 4 Ti4200 video card, 128 RAM,
1.2 Ghertz processor, Soundblaster 64 GOLD sound card,
etc. All good gear but cannot get any of my games to run
smoothly on my new Windows XP professional system. I have
tried to run everything on LOW settings within the games
but still no joy! I have loaded the latest drivers - still
no good! I seem to have tried everything and now do not
know what to do next. I have 2 drives on my system 1 has
plenty of room but my main C drive only has 490MB of space
left and I wondered if this could be the problem although
games usually need only 250MB of cache so I should have
enough for that. Any suggestions anyone please!

Try adding more ram to your system. 128M of ram for the computer is pretty
low. I normally run about 512M of ram. Ram is the key to speeding up a slow
system.

Are there other programs running in the background. Have you turned off the
virus checker. There was a patch released by microsoft that if the virus
Checker was running it could slow down your computer. I do not remember
what patch it was but the recently released a fix to fix that issue. You may
have not updated to the correct update.
