Ok, here is a strange one.
I have posted here a few times about some of my users having problems
deleteing documents from their MY DOCUMENTS folder. (They come back after
they log off, then back on)

Well, here is an update.

After trying this myself and not able to reproduce it no matter how manny
times I log off and on as that user, I now find somethign really strange.

If I delete a file today, log off, even restart, and sign back in tomorrow,
the file is gone. I sign off that night, sign back in the next day, the
file is back.

Figure that one out.

An imaginative prankster could easily write some malware that
will do this sort of thing, by moving/renaming/hiding files. A hacker
could also be responsible. You can rest assured that it's not
Windows that's doing it.

yes, everyone has roaming profiles. Yesterday, I set 2 people in a test
GPO that has teh "Don't cache profiles" set. As from what I was reading,
if windows thinks it's taking to long to load teh profile, it will grab the
localy stored profile.

Sounds to me like the "end of the day" is too busy on server that the
profile is not saved to server before the PC shuts down, then the next
day the profile that was not updated is returned to the PC for use. Is
there some "optimization" on the PC's to make the shutdown quicker?

"My Documents" inside a roaming profile is a terrible place for
users to keep their files. The bigger the profile, the longer it
takes to load when the user logs on and the longer it takes to
save when the user logs off. And, as you have apparently seen,
this can lead to problems when the network is congested - such as
when everyone is logging on in the morning or logging off at night.

If you must use roaming profiles, the only thing that should roam
are the settings, not the documents and not brower caches. Keep
documents and browser caches out of the roaming profiles and life
will be so much easier for you.
