Virtually every time I close down windows( XP2002 with SP2) I get a dialog
box telling that XPCom:EventReceiver will not close down. I have to 'end now'
to get it to shut down. What is XPCom:EventReceiver? and how can I cure this?
Also my computer ( Dell Dimension 8200 with Pentium 4 1.7Ghz ) has periods
of extreme slowness. Generally the fan is running really fast at the same
time. Is the computer just running hot? Any ideas why it shoudl start to
happen now?

Hi,

You have firefox installed? You may need to update to the latest release.

As to the fan/heating problem, it may be that the system needs additional
cooling. If the processor overheats or comes close frequently, then you may
be damaging it.
