Event Viewer not working properly

Events are shown but cannot be expanded to see the detail. Also noticed that the Properties for Network and Dialup Connections is also blank - dosen't even show the Add New icon. This is initial setup for a web server. Also cannot connect to any servers from the IIS plug in. Thanks for any suggestions on an install that is going badly...
 
It looks like your installation is damaged in several areas.
Seeing that you will use it for a server, I would start from
scratch. To protect yourself against further mishaps, get
it just right, then take a copy of it with some imaging
program, e.g. DriveImage or Ghost.
