For several days I have been receiving multple-errors messages logged in the
system event viewer. The message reads, "The machine-definitioins permission
settings do not grant local activation permission for COM serv Applications
with CLSID BC 866CF-41F7-B46B-9AA9cF3Ebb1) to the NT authority Local Service
SID(5-15-M)." I have not noticed any specific problems associated within the
time periods in which the the messages were logged.

Any ideas on the source of this error, the gravity and the fix. I checked
out the microsoft site referred to in the event viewer and although it
contains detailed info on resetting this to a different value the substance
of the message is all Greek to me.

Thanx in advance.

MS have offered you a solution. You should d\load that article and study it.
Or get someone you know to implement it for you.

That sounds like you may have a critical service that is set as 'defined by
user' rather than system control. Check your individual user settings for
'services' that are incorrectly configured.

Thanks for the ideas.

The mircorsoft site provides information on resetting the value to a higher
value. Don't know what value to set.

It appears to be associated with lauching a windows file xpsp2res.dll.

Any ideas?
