We have a windows 2000 domain that when users try to map drive or
authenticate to any server using NT authentication such as connecting to a
SQL server we get a failure audit in the event log of 681 and 529

Are they being denied access also or is it just that you are seeing those
events? The links below may explain the Event ID 529. --- Steve

Users are being denied access to SQL when using NT authenitaction. Users
trying to map a drive to the server are being prompted to put in their
domain\username details. It is at that point we get the 529 and 681 errors.

Putting their Domain\username details in will then authenticate them to that
server.

We have the exact same behaviour.
The only thing we see is that the servername is the same as an old NT BDC
server at this location.
Also trying to find out what the problem is....
