Event ID 1091 Local Server Should Replicate From Itself

G

Guest

These are getting logged in Event viewer every 15 minutes. I'm running a single domain network all Windows 2000 with DC servers each having a copy of the Global Catalog. However, on one of the DCs the following event is logged every 15 minutes. Does anyone know why this is happening and what steps should be taken to resolve it?

Thanks in advance for your help

The ntdsConnection object CN=CABALLO,CN=NTDS Settings,CN=CABALLO,CN=Servers,CN=BlueAgave,CN=Sites,CN=Configuration,DC=blueagavesoft,DC=com dictates that the local server should replicate from itself. This is not a valid configuration and will be ignored. Please use the Active Directory Sites and Services Manager to modify or delete this object.

Mike,

How is DNS set up? How many DNS Servers do you have and are all of them
pointing to your internal DNS Servers and are you running DDNS? Have you
installed the Support Tools on all of your WIN2000 Servers and on the Domain
Controllers run both dcdaig /c /v as well as netdiag /v to get an overall
picture of your AD? These are just general questions.

Install the Support Tools - located on both the WIN2000 Server CD as well as
the WIN2000 Service Pack CD in the Support | Tools folder - and run repadmin
/showreps and repadmin /showconn. I bet that you will find that the DC in
question somehow has an incoming connection object from itself to itself. I
would say that this is the problem.

You can also open up the Active Directory Sites and Services MMC and find
that incoming connection object when you look at the DC in question. I
would suggest that you delete this 'from DCx to DCx' connection object.

The KCC for some reason created this incoming connection object. If it
continues to create this object then we might need to look into why it ( the
KCC ) is doing this.

HTH,

Cary
