On the member server (Windows 2000 Server SP4) I've got an Event ID 1000
with description Windows cannot access the registry information at
\\ICB\sysvol\ICB\Policies\{31B2F340-016D-11D2-945F-00C04FB984F9}\Machine\reg
istry.pol. I tried to find an explanation in KB and found a KB article
#258296. But in this article they talk about this problem on DC. Anyway I
changed a binding order of NICs and rebooted the server. Problem wasn't
solved. One more thing - an error occurs while GP applying. And on this
server I can't access \\ICB\sysvol, althrough I can do this on any other
computer in the network.
I'd be appreciate for any advises.

By the way here is part of netdiag output:
DNS test . . . . . . . . . . . . . : Passed
[WARNING] Cannot find a primary authoritative DNS server for the
name
'onix.intercontinentbank.com.'. [ERROR_TIMEOUT]
The name 'onix.intercontinentbank.com.' may not be registered in
DNS.

DC discovery test. . . . . . . . . : Passed

DC list test . . . . . . . . . . . : Failed
'ICB': No DCs are up.
Why it can't get a DCs list?

sounds like the DNS client settings on this client are incorrect.

Verify that the time on that server is the same as the dc (including day,
time zone, etc) and also are you seeing events 1001 (plus maybe another 1000
with different msg) at the same time you see the one event 1000 you
described. Also verify that dns is working properly as indicated in the
other post, and look in the system log for events indicating possible secure
channel problems as well. If it can't get to sysvol, it can't apply the
policies it needs which is what it's basically telling us.

There were no another events. Just this one.
Would TCP/IP protocol reinstalling help?

Hello Mike,

It looks like you are having a dns issue. It appears this machine cannot
access the default domain policy (31b).

You also want to make sure that the sysvol on this machine is shared out and
that the 31b policy is located in the policies folder.

What number is in the parenthesis as below (1351)?
Event ID: 1000 Description: Windows cannot access the registry information
at
\\<mydomain>.com\sysvol\<mydomain>.com\Policies\{31B2F340-016D-11D2-945F-00C
04FFB984
F9}\Machine\registry.pol with (1351).

Is this service enabled --> service TCP/IP NetBIOS
helper service?

Here are some other articles that may apply:
290647 Event ID 1000, 1001 Is Logged Every Five Minutes in the Application
