dont do dell, dell are bad

hi dramaqueen,

i'd avoid those refurb dell on amazaon. for the money they are realy low spec. 20gb hard drive and 256 mb ram for £199. not worth it.

the toshiba dual core isn't bad. reasonable spec especially for 11 yr old. i am using a celeron m 1.6 ghz with 894mb of ram and 80 gb hard drive. it works fine, only i have just filled the hard drive up with mp3s, so the toshiba sounds pretty good in comparison. try a local computer shop aswell, see what they have.

2 questions for you, which you should always have when looking to buy computers:

what is your max budget
what does it need to do

thanks for your comments
my max budget is £300 - but i'd love to find a bargain
it needs to surf wirelessly, general word processor/xl etc.
not a lot of downloading would be required - more use would be for internet

I thought about the £259 version with 2gb (as that would be within budget) but perhaps the Toshiba IS the better buy.

Thanks FECKIT - i'll check out morgan computers

Cheers

hi again.

if you can stretch to £300 go for it. it is always worth getting as much computing power as you can afford. usually it is well worth spending an extra £50 as you will get more value than spending the smae at a later date on upgrades.

good luck
