EULA Missing.

Hi all.

I have an original XP Pro CD. All lworks fine and I can install it etc. I
made a copy of this CD as I always do with originals and work off the
copies.

Anyway, when I try to install XP Pro from my copy, Setup says it cannot find
the EULA!

I did a disc compare, dumped a dir listing of all the files from the
original and the copy to text files and ran a VB app that I made that
compares the two files line by line. They are IDENTICAL, I mean honestly
they are. I used MagicISO to create ISO files of the two CDs, then used it's
compare ISO tool - Akoy. I also did the same with ISO Buster. So these are
independant bad boys and they compared fine.

I took another Original CD from our archives and did exactly the same thing
(i.e. copied using Nero Ultra) - all worked well.

I guess my question should be: Why cant' this one copy find the EULA? I've
checked and it's on the CD exactly where it should be an in accordance with
the locations of the original.

Not earch shattering and certainly it won't stop the universe, but it is a
mystery.

If anyone has some insight that would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Thanks, but I read this prior to my post and it doesn't apply here. As my
original post mentioned, I can install from the ORIGINAL, so there doesn't
seem to be anything wrong with the machine setup.

Interestingly enough, when I install from boot floppies it works fine and
will install. The EULA is not on the floppies anywhere so it falls to reason
that it must come from the CD.

This is one of those things like using a boot floppy with a CDROM.SYS name
of CDROM, Win2K and XP will fail if the device is called CDROM (in
config.sys).

So, being the annoying little troll that I can be, I'm going to charge on
and see if I can figure this out, it's just one of those things that annoys
me.

Thanks for the help anyway. If I figure this out, I'll post it.

Read this http://linuxadvocate.org/articles.php?p=1

Then take any text file, rename it EULA.txt and stick it in the i386
directory.

Thanks fo rthe link. I had reviewed this previously. AND, the EULA is in the
I386 directory! I am quite amazed at this and I dare say - confused.

I have done this so many times it's automatic and natural.

I've triple checked everything and still can't get the EULA to load when
booting from the CD.

If I boot and run from the 6 setup flopps, or do an install from a DOS or
WIN98 boot disk (cd rom support) all is well. Just not when I boot from the
CD. I've tried this CD on several systems with the same result.

Thanks for the assist.
