Check Device Manager for hardware conflicts first.
Then figure out the model number and vendor of your card, and download a fresh XP driver from manuf. web site.

Note: Make sure ICF (firewall) and antivirus are on before connecting to the Internet.

Good Luck!

I just gave my daughter my old computer. When I tried to
connect to the internet through her cable modem, it wouldn't
happen. What finally got things going is unplugging the
modem for at least one minute. Just shutting off the modem
didn't work. It had to be unplugged. I hope this solves your
problem.
