escape sequences

I need to add the escape sequence <esc>&k2S to the 17cpi
setting under FONTS for a generic text only printer. In
previous versions of windows you could just press the ESC
key to enter an escape in this field. Windows 2000,
however, exits the program when the ESC key is pressed.
Does anyone know a way around this?
 
Make sure the Num Lock is on then hold down the Alt key and enter 27 on the
numeric keypad.
