Errors w/ XP on Startup...

Hi All,

Thanks so much for taking the time to look at my dilemma and perhaps offer
some assistance. For several months now, my family has had a fairly basic
setup in our home: 1 PC on a wireless network (due to distance from phone
jack), DSL, and have used Cyber Patrol for controlling our home's surfing
habits. Until this morning, everything has been working quite peachy.

Upon startup, I received an error stating that the "Cyber Patrol Server has
encountered a problem..." and that any info being worked on would possibly be
lost, etc. The dialog box offers the ability to send a report or to not do
so. When I tried to send the Error report, it just pulled up another box
showing progress of pulling the report together, but never sending it. So, I
tried the other method -- not sending the report -- which brought up the
following dialog box (error):

MS Visual Basic C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error
Program: C:\Program Files\Surf Control\Cyber Patrol\cpACtrl.exe
The application has requested...unusual way...

Basically, if you hit ok to confirm your understanding (as if you have a
choice), it brings back the first message and away we go again. Either way,
I can't connect to the net from home (Cyber Patrol blocking everything???) to
try to get some Virus software.

Folks, I am really at a loss here. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Sean

If Home Edition of XP, I would suggest logging on in Safe Mode (F8 on
restart) and as the default "Administrator" account. Open the Add or Remove
app in Conrtrol Panel, and remove the Cyber Patrol software. See if the
connection now works, and if so, reinstall Cyber Patrol.
