The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the
"I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining
the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

Though I have different incoming and outgoing settings, I have check with
both ATT and Aristotle who confirm that my account settings are correct. The
outgoing mail wil not send. If I go to the "out" folder and double click on
the message, then click send, the message will send without error. Wonder why
this error pops up when I try to send the message initially???

This is a new and spontaneous problem with Win Mail on Vista.

Help, Reid

You gave us the first and least important half of the error message. How
about the rest?

It could just be that the server is down.

Hi,

Indeed after looking at another post I realized ultimately it is error 553.
Went back to Yahoo and found the remedy. To this point it has worked. Thanks
for responding to the inquiry.
