I am trying to install XP from 98 and at after inputting the key# it says
that it cannot copy various files from E:\I386 to C:\Windows\setup\I386 ....
it then tells me to contact microsoft support with an error code of
66DFF5CH. Anyone have ideas on what this could be and how to fix? Thanks!

Hi, INDY5QQ
You can try to inatell xp in another direction, maybe is because of your 98
is install in direction C, so it can't be rewrited it.

1. Did you check to make sure that your machine is capable of running
Windows XP?

2. Did you boot from the CD to install?

I am trying to install it on a PIII-500 w/ 192MB of RAM. It has plenty of
disk space available (over 10GB). I still am having trouble.

I tried to boot from the CD to install. It advised me that it could not
locate any version of Windows on my system. (Hard to believe since I am
using it now and have the old product key in front of me!)

So I called microsoft support. They decided that it was a defective CD. I
got a new CD and it is doing the same thing with the same error messages.
