error when sending some faxes in XP

I have browsed and searched this group but have not found my particular
problem mentioned.
I only occasionally send faxes and so have relied on the fax software built
in to XP. I only send, don't receive, and have had no trouble for the most
part. However, I have just created a database in Access XP which produces a
report that I would like to fax. It's about 10 pages long. When I try to
send the fax, anywhere from 2 to 6 pages are transmitted before I get an
error message that states "an error occurred while sending the fax". I go
back to Access, and fax only those pages unsuccessfully sent. The same thing
happens. Eventually the report is in the hands of the other person, who in
the meantime has had some of their paper and time wasted. I have a
Communicate!Lite 56k internal modem that does not appear on the XP
compatibility list, but as I say short faxes are OK. Is there some time-out
setting or other configuration tool that I don't know about, or is this size
of fax just overwhelming for the basic software?
Thanks to any who can help.

Windows XP fax only barely works with modems on the Win XP HCL list. For
others, I'd say the chances are slim to none.
