Error when copying files

Hello i have got a big problem I have 2 hard drives the portable is 40G and
the main one is 120GB. When I try to copy from the secon dharddrive on 40Gb
to first hard drive on 120GB en error occurs saying Error when copying files.
The search path is too long.

What can I do to fix this?
 
If your two drives are set up properly as master and slave or external driver
you can use Windows Explorer and copy&paste or even drag&drop files from
one drive to the other. How are you copying, using the XCOPY command in
DOS format? Using Explorer will not involve typing or inserting a path.
