Error using NOD32 virus software

on initial scan an error comes up saying:-

error occurred while scanning active boot sector of the
1.physical disk - error reading sector
 
Hi,

How was the drive originally partitioned? Some AV software has problems with
drives partitioned using a drive overlay or partitioning software.
