My image functions just fine. I have problems when adding a Printer.
I receive the error message "The following hardware was installed
Printer. An error occurred during the installation of the device. The
system cannot find the path specified." I have disable the IIS.inf and
the contents of the setupapi log file are:

Tabitha,

Please leave iis.inf file in your image. There is no need to delete it.
Now if I understand correctly you are trying to manually install printer to your post FBA image and it fails, right?

If so then before you do installation you should:
1. Delete setupapi.log so we can have a clean view to what happened.
2. Use filemon, regmon to see what happens.
3. Use dependency walker in XPe on all files that are troubled in setupapi.log and see if all binary dependencies are in your image.

Please do this, then we can go from there.

And you are sure you have got the Class Installer - Printers, Class Install Library - Printui and printer driver files including
help files in your image?

If so, as Slobodan mentioned, you would need to use FileMon to see what other files the installer cannot find.

I used filemon and it looks like it cannot find the ntprint.cat and
ntprint.pnf file. The ntprint.cat file is located in the windows\i386
directory, but it's looking for it in the windows\inf directory. Also,
when looking in Target Designer, the ntprint.cat should get installed
as it listed under Files within one of my components. It installs it
to the %66000 directory. I'm not for sure what directory that is.

The .pnf is just the cached version of the .inf and will be regenerated if it doesn't exist.
You don't need it in original image (and you won't find the ntprint.pnf in the XPe Repository).

The .cat is signature file. You again don't necessarily need this file (but it comes with pretty much every printer driver
component).
So, that tells us you don't have any printer driver component included in your image, don't you?

The question I have is - do you have NTPRINT.INF file under \windows\inf?

Yes, the ntprint.inf is under \windows\inf. I do have a printer driver
component in the image. I've added the Generic Text Only Printer to
the image.

I see.
Well.. I don't think you need ntprint.cat but who knows, lets fix it.

All the printer driver components that include the ntprint.cat will put it under %66000% which is actually has to be associated at
run time with SetupSetDirectoryId. This API function does not seem to get called by FBA PnP. I am not sure what's happening there
but I am wondering if you can find the ntprint.cat in your image?

If you cannot, go to "Generic / Text Only" component File section and change the target for the ntprint.cat from %66000% to
something like "%SystemRoot%\system32\CatRoot\{F750E6C3-38EE-11D1-85E5-00C04FC295EE}".

Also, please check if "Printer Common #1 (Client Side Shared Components)" component was included in your configuration.

I can find the ntprint.cat in my image. It is located in the
windows\i386 directory. In the Generic / Text Only component File
section I have changed the target to
"%SystemRoot%\system32\CatRoot\{..... and it installs there.
Although, I can change where the location of the file is being
installed, should I? What if Microsoft comes out with an update for
that file? Will I affect the changes by that update to that file
because I changed the location? Also, the Printer Common #1 component
is included in the configuration.

Anyway, did the moving file to the CatRoot... directory fix your install errors?

No, it didn't fix the install errors. The error is the same. I
referring to the QFE when I speak of Microsoft updates.

You didn't you show us the entire Filemon log, did you? I am thinking maybe there is some more information on what's been missing
from your image. Regmon'd also be useful in the analysis.
