Steve

Hi,

Here I have a WIn200 server network with win98 and few WinxP clients located
on 5 remote sites. With one WinXP client I have the following while reading
the login scritp which map 3 net drives:

Error: System error 5 has occured. Access denied
Error: System error 1223 has occured
Error: System error 85 has occured. The local ...already in used

Though the username is designed like all others, I had that problem once
before. It started with Outlook 2000. The user couldn't access his mailbox
anymore and send emails. Once I have that part fixed, the user had the 3
error messages showed above while reading the login script. The user can
only access 1 of the 3 mapped drive ??? Sometimes not at all I don't
remember what I did a month
ago to resolve that problem but it came back and drives me crazy. I have the
same problem with the 3 other WinXP PC. I created all the same way. It's on
and off. I repeat, if I log on a Win98 PC it's OK. Alle the mapped drives
are accessibles.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

System error 5 - Access is denied

This is a permission issue. If the net view command fails with a "System
error 5 has occurred. Access is denied." message, 1) make sure you are
logged on using an account that has permission to view the shares on the
remote computer.
2) Need to cache credential: logon the same username and password on both
computers or use net net use \\computername /user:username command.
3) Make sure the Netlogon service is running.

Thanks for replying Robert.

Like I said, If i log on a Win98 PC using the same account, I have no
problem. I have and access the mapped drives with no problem. The problem
occurs on WinXP PC's and it seems to be on and off though it's more off than
on. Anyways, I'll give a try at your solution..
