Error reporting isn't working properly

Hello!
I've got a problem with my Error Reporting. When a program crashes, it
offers me the option to report the error, but when the error reporting box
comes up, it stays on "Preparing error report" and doesn't move on to the
next step. Does anyone know what I can do to repair it?

Thanks!

Hi,

Turn it off, clear your temp folder, then turn it on again.

To turn on/off, go to the control panel/system/advanced tab, click the
"error reporting" button at the bottom.

Delete the contents of the user-defined temp folder:
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\local settings\temp

Thank-you for your prompt reply. I won't be able to tell if it worked or not
until something crashes or a program fails. I'll post whether or not it
worked then.

Hi Steve,

Have you tried clearing your local user-defined temp folder?

Is that in a different location than the temp folder you specified in your
previous post?

Steve

Hi Steve,

Shoot, sorry, hadn't realized that I already said that. Try this:

Start/run services.msc, scroll down to error reporting and double click it.
Go to the Recovery tab, change the "first failure" to "restart the service",
then click apply/ok. Close the services snap-in and restart the system.

Sorry to take so long to reply. I tried your suggestion and unfortunately the
problem persists. Can you suggest anything else?
Might it be a firewall thing? I have NIS 2005.

Thanks again for your time,
Steve
