Error reinstalling Windows 2000 Pro

Hi!

(sorry for my bad english)

After doing a Windows Update on a Windows 2000 Pro SP4, I
get a msgina.dll error at login, and Windows 2000 can't start.

After try some solutions, Windows still not working.

I decided to reinstall Windows 2000 from the CD, which I
already do in other systems. But when I try to install from
the CD, I got an error that the startup disk has an
operating system that is imcompatible with Windows 2000,
and Setup can't upgrade it.

Starting the recovery console, I can log correctly into the
actual installation, but Setup don't detect it correctly.
Windows 2000 start correcty, but stop al login with
msgina.dll can't load error.

Any idea why Setup can't upgrade this installation ?

Thanks!

To do a clean install, either boot the Windows 2000 CD-Rom or setup disks.
The set of four install disks can be created from your Win2k CD-rom; change
to the \bootdisk directory on the cd-rom and execute makeboot.exe (from dos)
or makebt32.exe (from 32 bit) and follow the prompts.

When you get to the point, delete the existing NTFS and or other partitions
found. After you delete the partition(s) abort the install, then again
restart the pc booting the CD-Rom or setup disks to avoid unexpected drive
letter assignments with your new install.

Greetings ...

It's hard to say what caused the gina errors you were seeing. If you had
PCANYWHERE or any other utilities which use a custom GINA, there could have
been issues after the install.

It looks like you have solid info on how to install 2000 again. Let us
know if you run into further issues.

I have a computer loaded with Windows 2000, and now start to have problems sometimes with many programs I have installed. So I decided to re-install the Windows 2000 from the CD ROM, However, the computer gives me an error message as the following:
"File WPRO\c_1252_nls could not be loaded, the error code is 14, set up cannot continue".
Am I missing something here?
