I have a 98 machine with IE6 SP1. On one site I get Page Cannot Be Displayed
all the time. No other sites have this problem. I have checked the site and
it works fine on other machines.

I have cleared the local files. Is negative response cache involved in this?
How do I clear it in 98?

Any ideas?

Mike,
How do I clear it in 98?
You may need to clear your TIF as you may have a corrupt file there.

Close all instances of OE and IE
Control Panel | Internet Options | General tab
Click the "Delete Files" button, when prompted place a check in:
"Delete all offline content", click OK
Click the "Clear History" button, click OK.
Click the Settings button, adjust the TIF size to 50 mb, click OK

Possibly your cache folder is corrupt:

Symtom: Page cannot be displayed / Cannot find server or DNS Error

In the event you can not access a site and you believe it
may be due to an entry in the HOSTS file.

You can use a simple batch file to rename the HOSTS file "on-the-fly".

Thanks Mike.

I have deleted all Offline Content/Temp Files. I have not cleared history.
The size is 80MB.

Strange thing about this machine's behavior, is IE says it is "connecting."
(Lower right hand corner.) It just sits there with no activity over the
connection. It displays the sites IP just before that. Then it simply times
out with the error.

It is like the site is just a little to slow for it. I cannot get other
machines to have the same problem. (I changed out the modem. No difference.)

Any more ideas?

Mike
