I'm getting a error code when trying to use update. This is a fresh install
with a new WinXP cd. I have activated & regestered the OS. I've seen some
try this, try that for others with the same problem. Is their a fix that
actually works? Much appreciate any help.

Thanks Ravi, but that didn't work. When I did " Stop Automatic Updates and
Background Intelligent Transfer Service" , stop was grayed out.

When I got to the bottom of the procerdures "d.) Click the START button and
then click OK. I got a "Services" error box. It says: Could not start
Automatic service on Local Computer Error 0x80070002: The system cannot
find the file specified.

Thanks,

Also the new "SoftwareDistribution" folder created after renaming is empty.
I guess that's why the The system cannot find the file specified error.
