This msg. comes up every time I send an e-mail. how do I cure this? I've
already changed to windows live mail. Gregor51

The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Live Mail", and read
the "I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help
determining the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service
provider.

The rejected e-mail address was '(e-mail address removed)'.

I also have a similar problem. I can receive my e-mails, but cannot send
them. I am using a laptop with Vista, through a wi fi connection. Any
suggestions?

:
The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'test', Account:
'mail.nctv.com', Server: 'mail.nctv.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25,
Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

There is no Internet domain named coastal.now.
Do you get similar errors when sending to other recipients?

We can't do much troubleshooting without that complete error message.

Is that Wi-Fi connection at your home, or somewhere else?

I currently am at a rented condo with a wireless router. Following is the
error message/

:The connection to the server has failed. Subject
'test', Account: 'mail.nctv.com', Server: 'mail.nctv.com', Protocol: SMTP,
Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

I am having the same problem all of a sudden. There have been no changes
made to my email connection however, I have been having problems sending any
emails today. It does not matter to whom I send emails to the message comes
up stating that your SMTP server has not responded in 60 seconds..wait or
stop. After several "wait" attempts I finally "stop" and then receive this
message: Subject 'test', Account: 'mail.comcast.net', Server:
'smtp.comcast.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number:
0x800CCC19

I am using Windows Vista on a laptop with a router. Again... nothing has
changed from yesterday????? Can someone please give me an idea of what to
do???

Does NCTV provide your connection to the Internet? If not, that is the
cause of the problem. What you are experiencing is normal. For an
explanation see
http://www.postcastserver.com/help/Port_25_Blocking.aspx

As a general rule, the owner of the SMTP server must match the
entity providing the Internet connection.

The available workarounds are as follows:

1. Use webmail for sending (via your browser).
2. Ask NCTV if they have a port other than '25' for SMTP.
3. Substitute the SMTP server that belongs to your connection.
4. Get a free Gmail account, configure it for POP access, and use it
for your sending chores.
Gmail uses port 465 for SMTP, which is not blocked like port 25 is.
