Pam

I have a Windows XP machine and when it first boots up I
am getting an error message.

Error Loading C:\WINDOWS\image.new The specified module
could not be found.

Any Ideas???

Click Start button
Click Run
Type: msconfig
Click OK button
Click Startup tap
Scroll through the list and in the Command field find the listing to load
C:\Windows\image.new
Click to remove the checkmark to the left of that item
Click the APPLY and OK buttons.

Then reboot. The first time you reboot you will get a Selective Startup
dialog box, click to select the option to not show that box again, then
subsequent boots won't show that box.

If you can't find a reference to image.new on the Startup tab, open the
Registry Editor, click the Edit menu, and search for: C:\Windows\image.new
When found, right click that string and then left click Delete. Then close
the Registry Editor and reboot your system.

As always, before editing the Registry, it's a good idea to create a System
Restore Restore Point.
