Hi,

I have configured my outlook 2007 e-mail account with exactly the same
settings as I did in outlook 2003. I can receive messages via my isp's
incoming mail server, but when I try to send through their smtp-server, I get
the error message below...

'Send test e-mail message: None of the authentication methods supported by
this client are supported by your server.'

Can't find a solution anywhere... Is this a beta-bug or not?

Please let me know if you need more info, got it all here...

Thanks,
Bart

Exactly what authentication methods _are_ supported and expected by the
server?

Hey Brian,

It doesn't require any extra authentication. I guess it uses the same as
the pop3 authentication (works perfectly with office 2003).

I am awaiting an answer from my ISP however with details about the
mailserver concerned and will post it here once I get it.

It doesn't... I think it uses the same authentication as the POP3 account.

I am waiting however for a response from my ISP (I forwarded them your
question just to be sure) and will post it here as soon as I get it.

Cheers

There have been a couple of reports here that enabling logging into the pop
server before the SMTP server (the "Log on to incoming server before sending
mail" radio button on the "Outgoing Server" tab of the account properties)
has helped.

Unfortunately... I tried it that way already and it didnt work. I checked
again and my config is exactly the same as on my XP machine, and it works
fine there.

I have the impression smtp traffic is in some way being blocked by vista (or
outlook 2007)... Havent found any similar reports anywhere though...

And I unfortunately do not have any other account available to test...
