Error message

I have jus bought a new acer computer, and tried to
connect to the internet using a proxy server, mind you,
other computers work just fine using this server, anyway,
the connection is established, but when explorer opens, it
doesn't work and says something like: "the search page
cannot be opened"for any page attempting to be opened
please help
