Error Message

I attempted to open my database this morning and instead the following error
message appeared:

"The database needs to be repaired or isn't a database file.

You may have unexpectedly quit while Access was open.
Do you want Access to attempt to repair the database?"

When I attempted to have Access repari the database, I was told that the
database couldn't be repaired or wasn't a database file.
Does anyone know why this happened?

I was working in it yesterday without any problems and it closed normally.
Thanks

There's a thorough discussion of the causes and some cures for
corruption at Tony Toews' website

http://www.granite.ab.ca/access/corruptmdbs.htm

There's no substitute for regular backups, unfortunately - some types
of corruption simply cannot be repaired. :-{(
