error message

We have PPT 2002 and are trying to open a presentation but getting this error:

Microsoft PowerPoint has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are
sorry for the inconvenience.

The creator has no trouble opening it. Those who received it all get this
error. It came from outside the firm and I can't check the version. But, is
it possible that this was created in a later version of PPT and that's why we
can't open it?

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Could be it was created in 2003 and password protected

Not sure about the password part but suspect you are correct on the version.
(I have no way of checking). However, it did let me convert it to a .pdf and
the client was happy with that. Thanks.

Well, it was more a work around than a solution... One of our level 2 techs
worked on it and says the file is corrupted. However, that doesn't explain
how the creator could keep opening it without a problem. It was emailed to us
but we don't usually have Outlook corrupt the attachments.

Your absolutely correct about Outlook. We have had a few postings here in
the newsgroup about corrupted slides and not being able to open presentation
from one computer to another until the corrupted slide was found and
deleted. No reason why slides became corrupted. But once found and either
deleted or replaced after that everything was okay. Glad to hear that your
techs found the problem. Once again thanks for letting us know.
