error message

when booting up, rec'd message:failure while initializing
windows sockets. How can I fix? can't get on internet due
to above error
 
How do you connect to the internet? Modem or cable? Have you tried to
reinstall the driver for the device that is being used for the connection to
see if thats the problem?

tried to troubleshoot my cable connection, I rec'd a
message that there was an internal problem. I will try
