When using network setup wizard to network two XP
machines, near the end of running the wizard on the
second machine (from the disk created on the first
machine)I receive the following error message."Error
Message: Spooler Subsystem App Has Encountered a Problem
and Needs to Close" I found on Microsift site 810894
which sounds as if it deals with this error, but I have
tried to apply the fix, but it did not apply since there
were no additonal keys as mentioned in the fix, so I did
not need to modify the reguistry files. Also, the error
is occuring during setting up a network, not while trying
to set up a printer or using a printer. Seems like this
may be first time this error is noticed during network
setup. ANy help is appreciated. Thanks.

No, I have not found a solution as of yet. I have
continued to research, and I am thinking the Intyernet
Connection Firewall may have something to do with this
error.

I've seen this before, and although I don't know why it happens,
the following seemes to be an effective work-around:

Go to a command prompt.
Before running the wizard, enter this command:

net stop spooler

After running the wizard, enter this command:

net start spooler

Greetings Randy,

Ron's suggestion will work and is a workground by stopping the spooler
service before running the Network Setup Wizard. However, a fix is available
by obtaining the latest service pack for Windows XP. Download and install
Service Pack 2 (SP2). This will also ensure you are protecting yourself
against the latest security issues by downloading the latest updates and
fixes to known problems.
